Manitoba's Framework for Learning now covers all three subjects, Grades 5 to 12

Manitoba families now have Mathematics, English and Science aligned across Grades 5 to 12 in Tia. Science support has expanded beyond Grade 10 to include Grade 11 Biology and Grade 12 Biology, bringing all three subjects into the same full grade band for the first time.

What has changed in the Manitoba alignment

The original Manitoba release supported Mathematics and English Language Arts through Grade 12, with Science through Grade 10. Science now extends into Grades 11 and 12 through Biology.

That is the news in this update. It is an expansion of Tia's Manitoba teaching coverage, not a claim that Manitoba has just introduced senior Biology or that its renewed general Science framework itself runs through Grade 12.

Manitoba Education's Framework for Learning brings curriculum, implementation resources and assessment information together. The province identifies its renewed general Science curriculum as Kindergarten to Grade 10. The senior Biology courses provide the named continuation used in Tia's expanded alignment.

For a parent, the result is practical: all three supported subjects now have Manitoba-specific coverage at every grade from 5 through 12. A student attending school can use it for extra help; a home-educated student can use it within the family's wider plan.

1,131 expectations across all 24 subject-and-grade combinations

The updated alignment contains 1,131 expectations: 437 in Mathematics, 361 in English and 333 in Science. There are eight grades and three subjects, giving 24 subject-and-grade combinations.

These are expectations in the supported grade assignments, not the number of lessons a student has finished. A curriculum coverage total does not mean every student has worked on every item or demonstrated mastery of it.

The table gives a family a precise way to inspect the scope. Grade 11 Science now includes 62 expectations and Grade 12 Science includes 45. The senior Science extension accounts for the newly shared full grade band across all three subjects.

Mathematics follows the Manitoba pathway into Pre-Calculus

Manitoba Mathematics tutoring in Tia spans Grades 5 to 12, with 437 expectations across those grade assignments. The early grades build towards the named senior pathway rather than becoming an unrelated sequence at high school.

The senior courses included are:

• Introduction to Applied and Pre-Calculus Mathematics, at Grade 10.
• Pre-Calculus Mathematics, at Grades 11 and 12.

The province's Grade 10 course page describes work with measurement, proportional reasoning, algebra, relations and functions. Its Grade 12 Pre-Calculus page describes advanced work with functions, transformations, logarithms and combinatorics.

Naming the courses gives parents something more useful than a broad senior math label. Match the student's actual course with the supported pathway when choosing extra help.

A student who needs an earlier idea explained again can revisit it without changing the longer-term curriculum goal. The teaching route can adjust while the provincial destination remains clear.

English Language Arts continues through Grade 12

English Language Arts remains aligned at every grade from 5 to 12, with 361 expectations across the grade assignments. The update places it alongside Mathematics and the expanded Science pathway across the same eight-grade band.

For a student working on a difficult passage, a written response or the structure of an argument, a Manitoba English tutor needs to connect the immediate task with the relevant provincial expectations. An age label alone does not explain that connection.

The student's understanding still shapes the explanation. One student may need to talk through an idea before writing. Another may prefer to read an explanation and respond in text.

Those choices support participation in the lesson. They do not remove the role of independent reading and writing when those are the skills being practised.

Science now includes Grade 11 Biology and Grade 12 Biology

Manitoba Science tutoring now runs across Grades 5 to 12 in Tia, with 333 expectations in total. The senior extension is specifically Grade 11 Biology and Grade 12 Biology.

Manitoba's official Science resources and course listings distinguish general Science from senior subject courses. The 2026-27 English Program Subject Table Handbook lists Biology in the senior years. That distinction is why the course names belong in this announcement.

A parent supporting a senior Biology student can identify the named Manitoba course rather than relying on a general promise of Science help. Grade 11 Biology contributes 62 expectations to the updated alignment; Grade 12 Biology contributes 45.

The full pathway therefore combines provincial Science in the earlier supported grades with named Biology courses at the senior levels. All three subjects now share Grades 5 to 12 without blurring those course identities.

Speak, listen or type within the same lesson

Tia's curriculum sets the learning direction. The student does not have to adopt a single format to participate.

Students can speak to Tia and hear verbal explanations, keep typing, or switch between voice and text within the same lesson. Two-way voice is included in all bundle plans at no extra charge.

For example, a student can ask for an explanation aloud and then return to written working. Another can stay with text throughout. These are choices within tutoring, not labels that fix a student as one particular type of learner.

Tia adapts to the student, not the other way around. That includes the way an explanation is given as well as its pace and examples. Voice is an option, not a promise of better attention or achievement.

Progress reports keep Manitoba outcomes visible

Parent records connect the work to the selected provincial curriculum. They help answer what was studied and which learning goal the session addressed.

Support for school students and home-educating families

A Manitoba school student can use Tia to revisit a lesson, work through another explanation or practise a concept connected to classwork. The expanded coverage makes the senior Science course identity visible alongside Math and English.

Home-educating families can use the same provincial pathway within their broader programme. Learning records can support the family's own account of what was covered without asking a parent to reconstruct every session afterward.

Families remain responsible for checking current notification, programme and reporting requirements with Manitoba Education. Tia's reports are supporting records, not a claim that a tutoring service alone satisfies those requirements.
